George R. "Bob" Cowan age 81 of Friendsville passed away Friday, August 14, 2015 after a hip fracture while exercising and a subsequent heart attack and aortic valve failure. He was a faithful member of Fairview United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Louise; sons and daughter-in-law, Robert "Bob" Cowan and David and Carolyn Cowan; daughters and son-in-law, Sharon and Monty Friesen, and Sheryl Cowan; sister, Virginia Stroud; granddaughter, Amy Cowan. Celebration of Life service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2015 in the Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Mickey Rainwater officiating. A reception will follow at the Hampton Hall at Smith Professional Center. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Sparkplug Sunday School Class at Fairview UMC, 2508 Old Niles Ferry Road, Maryville, TN 37803 or the Salvation Army, www.SalvationArmyusa.com.
